Liverpool owned youngster Tiago Ilori put in an impressive display in Ligue 1 on Thursday night, making a huge impact for his side.
He helped Bordeaux bounce back from conceding a goal to Ricky van Wolfswinkel, by scoring a second half equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw.
While actually allowing the Norwich City loanee to score his first goal in 13 months is a black mark against Ilori's Bordeaux, his overall performance was a positive one.
Sent out on loan to Bordeaux over the summer, Ilori, 21, was making only his second appearance for the club last night away to Saint Etienne.
Ilori made five interceptions, more than any other Bordeaux player, and won three tackles. In addition to this he made 13 successful clearances, as his side was put under intense pressure from the home side.
The centre-back still managed to complete 88 per cent of his passes, and scored a crucial goal in the second half, a header from a set piece.
Liverpool took the decision to loan out the former Sporting Lisbon youngster due to the competition for places at the club at present.
Ilori has had to wait a little while for his chance at Bordeaux but now appears to have seized it and hopefully will be rewarded with regular football, the aim of the move. If he can continue the high level of performance, he could pose an interesting conundrum when he returns to Anfield next season.
