VIDEO: Has Fabian Delph been inspired by Floyd Mayweather Jnr?

The 'hard work, dedication' mantra has seemingly spread from a renowned boxing club in Las Vegas to Premier League side Aston Villa.

Fabian Delph is in beast mode.

In the video above, the all-action Aston Villa midfielder, 24, went through an intensive gym session designed to enhance core strength.

Delph said: "[This is a] late night session with Jamie Reynolds, head trainer at Veloticy Training Club and Performance - unbelievable session."

But in a sign that the Aston Villa star, who recently has been integrated into the England national football team, is influenced by world champion boxer and pound-for-pound star Floyd Mayweather Jnr, he posted the mantra that is synonymous with the Mayweather name - hard work, dedication!

Could Mayweather - himself a Villain, albeit of the pantomime sort - be a key influence in Delph's decision to go the extra mile in training this year?

According to the Birmingham Mail, Delph only took one week off in the summer but engaged in additional gym work and enlisted the help of Reynolds as he seeks to overcome his injury history.

Mayweather himself is a renowned gym rat.

Having recently defeated Marcos Maidana for the second successive time, there are now calls for the undefeated American to arrange a duel with welterweight rival Manny Pacquiao.

Regardless of opponent, Mayweather will not be back in action until May, 2015 at the earliest but, despite his next training camp not beginning for another seven months, Mayweather will likely continue to stay in shape in the true spirit of hard work, dedication.
