Last summer Liverpool signed talented Spaniard Luis Alberto for £6.8 million. The Sevilla forward had impressed on a loan spell with Barcelona B the previous season and Brendan Rodgers decided he was worth the gamble so stumped up the cash for this talented, but reasonably unknown playmaker.
He struggled to make his way into the Liverpool team last season. With his first-team opportunities not looking any better this term he was again loaned out. He joined Malaga on the f for the upcoming campaign and he scored the opening goal of the La Liga season.
Last night he took on Barcelona, a team where he experienced an excellent loan spell with their second string.
But despite Barca's excellent form this season Malaga managed to hold them out. The game ended 0-0 despite the best efforts and co of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Iniesta and co.
And while Alberto did not start the game, coming on in the 67th minute, he was a part of the excellent performance which kept Barca at bay despite having just 38 per cent of possession.
And Alberto was obviously pleased with the result taking to Twitter after the game to announce so.
Muy contento con el resultado y con el gran trabajo de todo el equipo!Very happy with the result and with the team come on Málaga!— Luis Alberto Romero (@14_luisalberto) September 24, 2014
