A group of Manchester United fans have organised for a special message to fly overhead when Cristiano Ronaldo plays this weekend.

A Manchester United supporters group are planning to send a special message to their former player Cristiano Ronaldo this weekend according to a report from ITV.

The Portuguese international and his Real Madrid teammates are playing La Liga rivals Villarreal on Saturday, and pictures have emerged of a banner that is allegedly to be trailed behind a plane.

The group, called United Reel, are seemingly following the trend of the club’s fans getting their thoughts across in such a way; the message reads: 'Come Home Ronaldo - United Reel'.

During David Moyes’ ill-fated season in charge of the club, United fans paid for a plane to fly over Old Trafford displaying the message ‘Wrong One – Moyes Out’.

They ultimately got their wish, with the former Everton manager sacked with four games of last season remaining and eventually replaced by Louis van Gaal. But it remains to be seen if the latest stunt will lead to Ronaldo’s return.

The 29-year-old has long been linked with a return to United, and there is no doubt the fans would welcome him back with open arms. And yet he has recently gone on record to say he is happy at Madrid so perhaps United fans should be focusing on the superstars they recently acquired rather than the one that got away.
