Former Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling struck twice last night to fire Bournemouth to an away win over a hapless Cardiff City.
Gosling had only made one Championship start since signing in the summer on a free transfer, and this will help his confidence at the Cherries.
He had failed to fulfil his potential since leaving Everton for Newcastle, plagued by injuries, and struggling for a run of games.
He told Chronicle Live in July that he felt he never got a proper crack at Newcastle even when he was fit.
"I don’t think I had the fairest of chances but that’s football, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It was a place that I really enjoyed but the football side was not what I had hoped for.
“A few people behind the scenes probably thought differently about me and thought I could offer something, but it was one of those things and now I just move on."
Now 24, Gosling is part of a talented Bournemouth side but one which have not won in the last five league games.
His goals against Cardiff helped lift the entire side, and will earn him further first team opportunities in bids to turn his own and the club's fortunes around.
His double certainly surprised fans of his former club, who took to Twitter to comment:
