West Brom

We bring you the latest news from Aston Villa, Leicester City, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jackett won't rule out Fletcher return

Kenny Jackett has not ruled out making a move for Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher in the future.

Fletcher was a prodigious scorer in a Wolverhampton Wanderers and he has been linked with a move back to Molineux after falling down the pecking order on Wearside.

And Jackett has done little to quash the rumours today, although he did say that Fletcher is not someone that his side have considered yet.

“He’s not one we’ve pursued,” Jackett said to the Birmingham Mail. “We’ll see – we’re always looking at players and you never know where you go but he’s not someone we’ve enquired about.

Cole enjoying Villa star

Joe Cole is enjoying his time at Aston Villa after signing for the club in the summer.

The experienced midfielder was snapped up on a free transfer by Paul Lambert this summer and he says that he is delighted to have joined the club and he is now looking to make an impact..

"It's great to be here at Villa," he said to the club's official site. "It's a fantastic club and the lads and the coaching staff have been brilliant since I arrived.

"I obviously want to go out on the pitch and make an impact for all those reasons."

Craig Shakespeare not getting carried away

Leicester City's assistant manager Craig Shakespeare is determined not to get carried away after the side's brilliant start to life in the Premier League.

The Foxes have picked up eight points from their first five games since being promoted to the top-level, but Shakespeare has tried to curb expectations today.

"We’re dealing with it [the attention their start has brought] and there’s a bit of humility about the place," he said to Leicester's official site. "In sport you have to have that humility, because if you haven’t got it we know that it can kick you in the teeth. We know we have to be ready for every game and the challenges they bring."

Hughes wants silverware

Mark Hughes is hoping that Stoke City can add to their trophy cabinet by winning the Capital One Cup this season.

The Potters defeated Sunderland in League Cup action last night and Hughes already has his sights firmly set on winning the title.

“We talked about this right at the beginning of the season," he revealed to the Western Morning News. "We are only in three competitions and realistically we can only win two of them, so we wanted to try to do our best in this one."

Foster: Lescott has an aura

Ben Foster has said that West Bromwich Albion's latest recruit Joleon Lescott has an aura about him.

Lescott's illustrious career and reputation means he is one of the biggest stars at West Brom and Foster believes the centre-back's arrival has made the squad raise their game.

"A lot of lads spark off Joleon," he is quoted as saying by SportsMole. "He has got that bit of an aura about him. All the lads around him raise their game when he's there."
