Manchester City morning news: Ex-star urges Barkley to move to Etihad, Milner's ultimatum

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Former Manchester City player Rodney Marsh says Ross Barkley should move to the Etihad.

Barkly has been re-linked with moves to Manchester City and Liverpool this week which seem no more likely than in the summer.

“I would advise Ross Barkley to move to Manchester City in a heartbeat. He has the opportunity to become one of the greatest British players we've ever seen,” he told talkSPORT.

James Milner has reportedly handed an ultimatum to manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The experienced and versatile midfielder is thought to want assurances over the amount of playing time he’s likely to get at the Etihad Stadium and will think away from the club if he doesn’t get them.

“I understand I won’t play in every game, I just want a fair crack of the whip, a few more games than I got last year - I have a year left and have spoken to the club. I love it here and would love to stay at Manchester City,” he said.

Jose Pozo could be handed a senior debut by Manuel Pellegrini as Manchester City face Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup.

The 18-year-old has been a key player in City’s reserve ranks this season and scored in the UEFA Youth League win against Bayern Munich last week.
