Manchester City latest: Early team news; striker trains for first time with loan club

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City take on Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup this evening, and the Blues will be hoping to get back to winning ways after failing to record a victory in their last four outings.

City have drawn with Arsenal and Chelsea and lost to Stoke City and Bayern Munich in that time, and Manuel Pellegrini will surely send out a side with the express intention of overcoming the Championship club; not that it will be that easy.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Samir Nasri will all miss the match due to injury, while Pablo Zabaleta is suspended following his red card on Sunday.

Wednesday are without Kieran Lee and Sam Hutchinson.

In other news, ESPN reports that Alvaro Negredo took part in his first training session for loan club Valencia today.

The Spanish international is currently recovering from a broken metatarsal, but despite training there is still some way to go before the striker is ready to feature in La Liga.

The report claims Negredo is set to make his debut sometime next month.
