Last night was one of the more eventful League Cup ties in the recent history of Liverpool as Anfield kept the neighbours up late with a frenetic penalty shoot-out. In the end it was the home side that prevailed, winning 14-13 in a record competition shoot-out.
But away from that the other story was that of Jordan Rossiter. The teenage central midfielder, who has been compared in some circles to Steven Gerrard, was in excellent form and shone on his full debut.
He scored a 30-yard finish that Gerrard would have been proud of while he was also not showing his age when he stepped up to slot away in the decisive penalty kicks.
Rossiter has since come in for high praise from Gerrard, his manager Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
Of course that is not to mention the abundance of fans who have taken to social media to begin raving about the 17-year-old. And that has not been overlooked by the lad. He has taken to Twitter today to thank the fans for all their support on what was an epic night of cup football...

Liverpool fans will be hoping to see plenty more of Rossiter in the future.
