Oviedo returned from injury for his first first-team appearance since breaking his leg eight months ago.
The Costa Rica international suffered a broken leg in an FA Cup tie in January and last night marked his return to first-team football with the side.
It was an otherwise very disappointing night for Everton as goals from Nathan Dyer, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Marvin Emnes dumped the Toffees out of the competition which isn't the best preparation for Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield.
But Evertonians were at least taking something positive with the return of their goalscoring hero at Old Trafford last season.
Here is what a few fans had to say on twitter:
Great to see Bryan Oviedo back playing after 8 months out, was a horrible injury.— Starms (@dan_danstar24) September 24, 2014
A game in which the one and only positive is that Bryan Oviedo played. Don't expect a resoundingly upbeat preview for Saturday.— Preview From Gwladys (@ViewFromGwladys) September 23, 2014
The only positives for me tonight were getting Oviedo back and I thought Gibbo and Garbutt both did well. The rest were woeful.— Roy Leatham (@RoyLeatham) September 23, 2014
There are 3 positives. Oviedo and Gibbo return. Garbutt doing well in a shambles of a defence next to a 'pro'. Besic's potential to be boss.— TheEvertonForum.com (@TheEFCForum) September 23, 2014
