Denis Suarez has become an instant hit at Sevilla as a replacement for Ivan Rakitic.
This summer Sevilla had to say goodbye to one of their most precious gems as Ivan Rakitic left the club for Barcelona. The Croatian had been courted by many of the top clubs across Europe but in the end he had his heart set on a move to the Catalan club. He joined them, despite reported interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool, in a £15 million deal midway through June.
For Sevilla the task was then how to replace him. But Barcelona offered them a simple solution to that problem, by offering out Denis Suarez on loan.
To Manchester City fans that name should sound very familiar. Suarez was at Manchester City for two years between 2011 and 2013. He was snapped up in 2011 from Celta Vigo, underneath the nose of Barca and Chelsea in an £850,000 deal.
He went on to receive the Young Player of the Year award in 2012 but tired of waiting for a chance to play regular football he went to Barcelona in 2013 - knowing the 'B' team awaited.
He was excellent in his debut term at the club so was an option for Sevilla - and the former Manchester City starlet has not failed in impressing.
He is so far living up to the ghost of Rakitic at the Sanchez Pizjuan with some style and the fans are already taking to the 20-year-old as one of their own.
His form has also seen Chelsea reportedly show an interest in his services once again - such is the quality of his play so far this term.
Just like Adrien Rabiot, Suarez is looking like one that got away for Manchester City, even if they can easily buy a suitable replacement to ease the pain, it would have been nice to see someone come through the ranks at Manchester City.
Instead he looks set to become a star at the Nou Camp.
