Barcelona whizkid Sergi Samper sent a message of congratulations to Stoke City's two-goal hero after his Capital One Cup match winner performance.
Marc Muniesa struck twice as Stoke defeated last season's runners-up Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Samper, who started for Barcelona in their opening Champions League game a week ago and has been strongly linked with a transfer to Arsenal, reached out to Muniesa via Twitter:
Muniesa, 22, is a former graduate of Barcelona's academy, signing with Stoke a season ago.
The goals were the first the Spaniard has scored for Stoke, but he said he was not assuming he would be dislodging Erik Pieters in the starting line-up just yet.
He told the club's website: "It feels fantastic to score my first goals for Stoke City... That is the decision of the manager.
“Every player has to play well if they want to break into the team for Monday night, I thought I played well but it’s all about the team.
“We are all united in wanting to do well, so whether I start the next game or not, I will still be supporting the team.”
