Milanic to meet squad today
Darko Milanic will meet his new Leeds United squad today, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.
Milanic, who is set to be announced as Whites manager, joins the club from Strum Graz and will simply be looking to keep them on their current upwards trajectory.
The squad he meets is likely to be in high spirits as the Slovenian inherits a side which have taken 10 points from the last 12 available and he will take charge of his first game against Brentford this Saturday.
Gray plotting City downfall
Stuart Gray says that his Sheffield Wednesday side can play without fear when they take on Manchester City tomorrow night.
Wednesday take on the English champions in the League Cup on Tuesday night and head to the game in good spirits, following an encouraging start to their Championship season.
Indeed, Gray believes that the freedom his team can play with may benefit them and expects City to face a tough test.
“It’s one of those games where nobody gives us a chance. We can go there and play relaxed and play with confidence," the Owls boss told the Yorkshire Post.
“They dominate the headlines but I’m looking forward to the game because I think we can give them a good game.”
Powell wants Paterson to impress
Chris Powell has challenged Martin Paterson to force his way into starting contention at Huddersfield Town.
The striker scored twice for the U21 side in midweek after slipping down the pecking order in recent times and his manager wants him to keep impressing in reserve games.
"Martin is an experienced player who is part of our squad, and like all my players, I want him to work hard and show he deserves a chance,” Powell said to the Examiner.
“He has been out for a while, and he is getting the game time he needs to bet back to where we want him to be. If I can use him, I will.”
Nigel Clough may have a new player by the end of the week
Sheffield United may have a new player in their squad by the end of the week.
According to Nigel Clough the club have the finances to utilise the loan market this week and it is something they are considering doing, with the Blades known to be on the hunt for defensive additions.
“The budget is there for us to do that [sign a loan player],” Clough revealed to the Sheffield Star. “We’ll wait until after this round of Capital One Cup games and then see how results there impact upon things."
