West Ham co-chairman Gold comments on Kouyate injury

West Ham chairman believes the squad is good enough to cope without Cheikou Kouyate.

West Ham United are facing up to life without Cheikou Kouyate for the next few weeks, with it confirmed he is likely to be out injured until November.

The blow was confirmed by West Ham co-chairman David Gold via Twitter, yet he argues losing the midfielder is no disaster for Sam Allardyce's side.

Kouyate has been sensational this season since signing, winning West Ham's player of the month award for August.

Playing in defensive midfield, the 24-year-old has been solid, winning more tackles per game on average than any midfielder at the club this season.

Mohamed Diamé West Ham MF 1.67 0 80.00 3 55

While a small sample size, with Diame sold to Hull, it has been a very encouraging start for Kouyate at West Ham so far.

Yet Alex Song has barely got started, and after beating Liverpool 3-1 at the weekend, the club are high on confidence. There will be no fear as they head to Old Trafford in a few days time, full of belief they can rattle a shaky United back line.

When Kouyate returns, at a time similar to Andy Carroll's projected comeback date, it will be a very welcome boost heading into a crucial part of the season.
