Three Newcastle players ruled out of Palace match

Tim Krul

Newcastle United will be missing a trio of stars on Wednesday evening against Crystal Palace.

Newcastle United will be without three players for their Capital One Cup match against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

The club’s official website has revealed that Tim Krul, Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran will all be missing for the Magpies after picking up a sickness bug this week.

It is a big blow for the club, after Cisse rediscovered his goal-scoring form with a brace against Hull City on Saturday.

His goals saw the Magpies fight back from 2-0 down and will have given the club a huge boost as they look to climb up the table.

But Pardew will have to continue his latest cup run without three crucial components, relying instead on some summer signings who have failed to replicate their previous form thus far, most notably Remy Cabella and Emmanuel Riviere.

Rob Elliot is expected to start in goal for Newcastle in place of Krul, while Pardew has decisions to make as to which other players will feature in a competition that could be either a welcome relief or an unnecessary distraction depending on which side of the fence you sit.
