Cabella can 'grow and build'
Alan Pardew says that Remy Cabella can grow and build on the performance that he put in against Hull City at the weekend.
Cabella has made a slow start to his Newcastle United career since signing this summer, but impressed at the weekend and Pardew says he's delighted for his new recruit.
“I was so pleased with Cabella because we paid a lot of money for him. It was a case of “come on, son, you better start delivering” and he delivered causing them a lot of problems,” he said to the Chronicle.
“He can grow and build on that performance.”
Alan Pardew warns Ameobi
Alan Pardew has revealed that time is running out on Sammy Ameobi's Newcastle United career.
Ameobi has under a year left on his contract at St. James' Park and Pardew admits that he has warned the winger that he must start to impress or risk leaving Tyneside.
“I warned him this week I am running out of time with him and he is running out of chances," he said to the Chronicle.
“He comes on and changes the game a little bit. He runs up the pitch, takes players on and that is what we want."
Bardsley: Poyet one of the best
New Stoke City signing Phil Bardsley says that Gus Poyet is one of the best managers he has worked with.
The right-back was signed from Sunderland in the previous transfer window, but he clearly has no ill-feeling towards his previous manager and praised his managerial ability.
“I was privileged to play under some fantastic managers at Sunderland and none more so than Gus," Bardsley said to Sky Sports.
Rickie Lambert to start against Middlesbrough
Rickie Lambert is poised to make his first Liverpool start against Middlesbrough in the League Cup tonight.
The striker completed a summer move to Anfield and could get his competitive action from the start this evening.
"I know he's really looking forward to tomorrow [Tuesday] night and hopefully he can get a goal on his first start," Brendan Rodgers said to the club's official site.
