Manchester City latest: Possible loan extension; Toure hails potentially ‘crucial’ moment

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that the club could extend Frank Lampard’s loan deal.

The former England international scored the equaliser in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, and as reported by the BBC, the City boss has not ruled out extending a deal that currently expires in January.

That was when Lampard was expected to head to the US to begin his preparations for New York City FC’s MLS campaign; but it appears that may no longer be the case.

In other news, Yaya Toure has hailed Lampard’s goal at the weekend and suggested it could prove to be vital in the reigning champions' latest campaign.

In quotes published by the Oldham Evening Chronicle, the City midfielder said, “Ever since I have been at this club, seasons and big moments have been decided on small events like this one so I will never underestimate what it could mean to our season. It could be crucial.”

It certainly could be, with City remaining on the coat-tails of a Chelsea side who would have gone eight points clear had they held on for the victory.
