Chelsea attacker Lucas Piazon has been speaking about some of the managers he has worked with so far in his career.
On loan at Eintracht Frankfurt for the 2014-15 season, the Brazilian youngster has played under Andre Villas-Boas, Rafael Benitez, Roberto Di Matteo and even Manuel Pellegrini, who was the Malaga coach when he was on loan at the Spanish club in 2013.
Speaking to Bleacher Report of the big names he has worked with, the youngster highlighted the time he had spent under Di Matteo.
‘Matteo gave me chances to start in the team’, he said. ‘I think he liked my style of play. At the time, I was only 18 years old, so to play for Chelsea was very tough. Di Matteo was a great coach and he taught me a lot of things. He helped me with positioning, defending and going forward. He wanted me to be aggressive’.
Speaking about his time at Malaga under Pellegrini, Piazon said: ‘It was for a short period of time, not even six months. It was good for me because I was not playing a lot for Chelsea, but at Malaga I was playing every week - even if it was just like 20 or 30 minutes in a game. [Pellegrini] was a top coach and I played with good players’.
Piazon has made just one Premier League appearance for Chelsea so far in his career, and it does not appear at the moment that he will be able to break into Jose Mourinho’s first team anytime soon.
However, the Brazilian is highly rated and there is a reason why the London club have not sold him yet. If Piazon can step up his game and continues to develop himself during his loan spell at Bundesliga club Frankfurt, then he could get his chance under Mourinho next season.
