Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher on Rossiter and Mignolet on Twitter

Jamie Carragher has been speaking about Jordan Rossiter and Simon Mignolet after Liverpool beat Middlesbrough.

Liverpool have clawed their way into the next round of the Capital One Cup after a record-breaking penalty shootout victory against Middlesbrough. Liverpool came through 14-13 in the shootout, in a game which also saw young player Jordan Rossiter score his first goal for the club.

Rossiter is just 17-years-old and his 30-yard strike today made him the club's second youngest scorer behind Michael Owen.

Rossiter put on a great show, and even stepped up to the plate in the shoot-out, which proved much about his character.

He has been compared to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard in some circles and another legend at the club was impressed with his performance, as he declared on his official Twitter page:

However he was not as pleased with the performance of Simon Mignolet. It is often said that goalkeepers cannot lose in a shoot-out, but after Mignolet's performance several people on Twitter were commenting on how unconvincing he was during the showdown.

Joey Barton commented to ask whether Mignolet 'had hands in them gloves' while Carragher stated:

But at least he scored his spot-kick...
