Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert has heaped praised on the club’s £25million summer signing Adam Lallana.
The former Southampton midfielder had to sit out the opening weeks of the Reds’ campaign after sustaining a knee injury. But he is now beginning to play his way back into form – having made three appearances for Liverpool in recent weeks – and Lambert believes the best is yet to come.
In an interview with the club’s official website, Lambert revealed that Lallana could become one of Liverpool’s most influential players.
“He’s going to bring a whole new dimension to the team,” the England striker said.
“He’s missed out on a few weeks, and there’s nothing he can do about that. But his attitude has been first-class in training. He’s been desperate to get back.
“That extra strength and that extra speed will come back over the next few weeks and you will be seeing the best of Adam Lallana, without a doubt.”
Lambert should know, having previously played alongside Lallana at Southampton; and Liverpool fans will be hoping his prediction is correct as the club looks to get back to winning ways after a disappointing spell in the league.
Back-to-back defeats to Aston Villa and West Ham mean Brendan Rodgers’ side are currently 11th in the Premier League, but if Lallana can replicate the form he showed at St Mary’s last season, they could soon be back to their best.
