Philippe Senderos says that Cesc Fabregas is 'really happy' following his move to Chelsea.
The Aston Villa defender linked up with Fabregas when the pair were at Arsenal and he says that they have maintained a good relationship throughout their careers - still keeping in contact with each other now.
"We are still very good friends," Senderos said to Villa's official site.
"We moved into digs together in the first year that I was in England and we still get on. So it is a long friendship.
"He didn't speak a word of English when he moved to Arsenal. So I was next to him and trying to help him in everything he needed. But he picked it up pretty quickly.
"He is a terrific player. He speaks on the pitch better than anyone.
"I'm pleased for him that he is doing well at Chelsea. His dream was to go back to Spain and play for Barcelona in his home town.
"But he also now has a fantastic environment where he can develop at Chelsea. He is really happy."
Fabregas has wasted no time settling in at Chelsea and has already impressed with his creativity from midfield.
The Spaniard already has six assists to his name this season and he looks set to rack up a huge number by the end of the campaign.
With the clinical Diego Costa up front, the Blues have looked the strongest team in the Premier League so far and Senderos will know the task that awaits his team when they take on Jose Mourinho's side at the weekend.
Villa, though, should be full of confidence given their own excellent opening to the season.
Before last weekend, when Arsenal beat them 3-0, they were unbeaten and the Midlands outfit remain firmly placed in the upper echelons of the embryonic Premier League table.
Any result they may be able to pick up against Chelsea will be considered a bonus, but if they are to be successful then Senderos is likely to be key.
The Switzerland international has adapted to life at Villa Park very well and his commanding performances at the heart of the defence have been a reason for his side's good form so far.
