Arsenal newboy David Ospina says that the Emirates is the perfect stadium and that he is dreaming of playing there.
Ospina arrived in North London in a £3 million deal from Nice over the summer and is still waiting to make his debut for the Gunners.
That could come against Southampton in the side's League Cup match tonight, and Ospina is clearly looking forward to playing inside his 'perfect' new surroundings.
"I would say that the club has a perfect football stadium," he said to the club's official website. "I’ve already been down there on the pitch [for first-team games]. In fact, that experience may help me understand how it would be like to defend Arsenal’s goal in the home games."
"It would definitely be more special [to make my debut at home]. If I made my first appearance in front of our crowd, it would be a dream come true because the atmosphere at the Emirates is extraordinary.
Ospina was signed by Arsene Wenger on the back of his performances at the World Cup. The shot-stopper was part of the Colombian side who made it to the quarter-finals in the competition and excelled between the sticks for his nation.
Although he has been brought in initially as back-up, there is a feelong that he could provide some serious competition to current number one Wojciech Szczesny for a starting berth.
Szczesny has monopolised the goalkeeping spot at Arsenal for a number of seasons now, but he has never had to deal with competition from someone as talented as Ospina before, and he will have to be on the top of his game to keep the 26-year-old out of the team.
