Mesut Ozil has hit back at critics of his form at Arsenal.

The German has come in for heavy scrutiny this season after an inconsistent start to the new Premier League season.

“I have the feeling that I am criticised more. That happened to me in the Bundesliga and also at Real Madrid. (Just) 10 weeks ago I was named in the English team of the season (by Premier League fans). I was world champion then,” said the German.

Arsene Wenger hopes Calum Chambers can fill the void created by Mathieu Debuchy’s injury.

Debuchy was ruled out for three months yesterday following an ankle problem he picked up against Manchester City.

It is a blow of course [to lose Debuchy], how big it will be we will only know afterwards, because it will be down to how well we replace him. We bought Chambers for that,” said Wenger.

Arsenal have been dealt a blow via reports that Real Madrid want to hang onto Isco.

The Spanish star has been linked with a switch to the Gunners with interest also coming from Liverpool.

“He had a great season last year and we have a lot of faith in him. He is the future of this squad,” said Real boss Carlo Ancelotti.
