Sony offer free online multiplayer on PS4 this weekend

European PS Plus open weekend to run from Friday until next Monday.

Sony are to give PS4 owners the chance to enjoy online multiplayer for free this weekend. Unlike PS3 and Vita, to play online with PS4 owners are normally required to subscribe to Sony’s PlayStation Plus service.

Starting this Friday however PS4 gamers who haven’t subscribed to PS Plus will be able to access online multiplayer content for games without having to pay.

Taking place in Europe the PS Plus open weekend starts at 8.00am BST/9.00am CET on Friday 26th September and ends at 9.00am on monday 29th September.

PlayStation plus gives subscribers a monthly selection of games to download free each month for PS3, PS Vita and PS4. Hit this link for the current PS Plus free games in September.

In addition to the new games coming in next month’s PS Plus selection, gamers on PS4 will also get access to DriveClub PS Plus Edition.

Other perks for PS Plus subscribers include 3GB of cloud storage across Sony’s platforms and discounts on games and DLC.

Currently PS Plus subscriptions come at the price of £5.49/$9.99 per month, £11.99/$17.99 for three months, or £39.99/$49.99 for a full year.
