Predicted Chelsea XI to play Bolton Wanderers - Seven changes for the Blues

Loic Remy

Here is the potential Chelsea side to face Bolton in the League Cup this week.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could use the League Cup game against Bolton Wanderers as a chance to rest some of his key first team stars.

The Blues remain at the top of the Premier League following a 1-1 draw away at rivals Manchester City and they head into this game in good form.

Here’s the side Mourinho could select for the game.

GK – Petr Cech

Cech is a pretty good goalkeeper to have coming into the side. He’s been ousted by Thibaut Courtois for the number one spot but is a safe option.

RB – Cesar Azpilicueta

This could be a game which sees the Spaniard reverted to his more natural role on the right hand side of the defence.

CB – Branislav Ivanovic

Ivanovic has played on the right hand side of central defence before and he shouldn’t have a problem reverting to this position.

CB – Gary Cahill

This is a great chance for Cahill to feature against his former club. He should be comfortable.

LB – Filipe Luis

Luis has been kept out of the side following his move from Atletico Madrid due to the form of Azpilicueta in this role.

RM – Andre Schurrle

The German came off of the bench to score against Manchester city and he’s a good option at right midfield.

CM – John Obi Mikel

Mikel can play that deep role in midfield, protecting the defence and making it difficult for Bolton to mount any pressure.

CM – Ramires

Ramires can control the game in the middle of the team. He’s capable of dropping deep but also pressing forward when he has the space and freedom to do so.

AM – Oscar

Oscar didn’t feature in the game at City which means he’ll be fresh and he could come into the team in the number ten role.

LM – Mohamed Salah

This could be a great chance for Salah to lay down a claim for more regular appearances in the Chelsea first team. He guarantees pace wherever he plays.

ST – Loic Remy

Remy can start up front, using his pace to play on the shoulder of the Bolton defence and looking for a ball in behind.
