Arsenal legend Robert Pires is on his way to India to feature in the newly-formed Indian Super League.
The former France international winger will play in the tournament for FC Goa, having come out of retirement to take part in it.
The 40-year-old flew to India on Monday morning, but not before making the following post on social networking site Twitter.
@piresrobert7 good luck my love!!! We miss you— Jessica L Pires (@JLemariePires) September 22, 2014
Apparently, Pires is going to India for the first time and without his wife Jessica, who is expected to join him later.
It will be interesting to see how Pires performs in the ISL. Having retired from the professional game in 2011, the Frenchman will probably need to train hard in the coming days to regain his fitness, and his silky skills and vision will hopefully be as they used to.
FC Goa will have two other French players in their squad for the Indian Super League – defenders Youness Bengelloun and Gregory Arnolin (who represents Martinique in international football) – but Pires is their marquee signing.
