Ozil: This is how Arsenal's £16m summer recruit makes it easier for us

Mesut Ozil says that having Danny Welbeck in the Arsenal team makes it easier for them.

Mesut Ozil says that Arsenal are pleased to have Danny Welbeck as part of their team, as he makes it easier for them to assert their style of play on the opposition.

Welbeck joined the Gunners on deadline day, as Arsene Wenger spent big to try and improve their attacking options.

The 23-year-old became available amidst Manchester United's lavish spending and was identified as a player who could lead the line at the Emirates and his arrival in North-London seems to have gone down with his new teammates.

Welbeck has made a positive start to his Arsenal career and scored his first goal for the club in their 3-0 victory over Aston Villa and Ozil says that he was happy to see the England international hit the back of the net for the first time.

"I think when you assess [Welbeck's] pass, it was really well timed," Ozil told the club's official site.

"He saw me and played me through to finish. I didn't have to do that much because I was one-on-one against the goalkeeper and made sure that I stayed ice-cold in front of goal - that was that.

"When you analyse [Welbeck's] game, you notice that he makes a lot of runs and knows where he needs to be. We're pleased to have a striker like him here. He makes the game simpler for us through his runs and speed.

"[On Saturday] he proved again that he is very dangerous in front of goal and personally, I'm happy for him because in recent games, he missed a few chances. Things worked really well for him on Saturday and that's why I'm pleased for him."

Arsenal's win over Villa was much needed, after pressure had grown on the side following their midweek defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

The Gunners were exposed against top opposition once again in the Champions League and they needed to put in a performance this weekend to appease some fears that were growing.

It was their best show of the attacking intent that they will be relying on if they are to make a title challenge, as they are expected to, so far this season.

Welbeck and Ozil were both in fine form, getting on the score-sheet, and Wenger will be hoping that this is the first of many times that the duo link up well together.

Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday and they will be looking to build on the momentum gained from this weekend's victory against their North-London rivals.
