Leeds United fans react on Twitter to Darko Milanic appointment - 'Needs to chat with Redfearn'

Leeds United fans have reacted with mixed views on the appointment of Darko Milanic as the club's next manager.

Darko Milanic will be the man guiding Leeds United on their quest back to the Premier League, signalling the end of the Neil Redfearn’s time in temporary charge of the side.

Redfearn had been the favourite at one stage to land the job on a permanent basis but Massimo Cellino has made the popular decision to leave him where he is, in charge of the academy.

Redfearn’s spell as caretaker boss has seen the side achieve three wins and a draw, which helped to cover over a poor start to the season, which left the Whites lingering near the foot of the table.

The momentum that Redfearn has created makes Milanic’s job slightly easier, as there’s positive feeling around Elland Road as a new era is just about to begin under a foreign coach.

Milanic will be a worry for some Leeds fans who don’t know a lot about him, especially as his former side Sturm Graz finished fifth in his first season at the club and have lost four of their first five this season.

However, he had great success in Slovenian football winning four league titles with Maribor who are currently plying their trade in the Champions League so he brings a winning mentality into the club.

Leeds are in a great position on 13 points after eight games. A win puts them within touching distance of the play-off places and the side is only five points away from the top of the table.

Milanic has signed a two-year deal which suggests that owner Cellino is willing to give him time to stamp his authority on the club, hopefully removing the possibility of another period where Leeds are forced to play a patch of the season without a permanent boss.

Here’s what Leeds United fans have made of the appointment of their new manager.
