England cricketer Tim Bresnan would have been quite happy to have Neil Redfearn remain as Leeds manager.
Leeds United won their third game in four at the weekend, under the management of Neil Redfearn
Redfearn is to return to his role as academy boss, with the presentation of Sturm Graz boss Darko Milanic as manager imminent.
Yet given his successful spell as boss, it is clear that Redfearn won the supporters over at least, including one high profile fan in Tim Bresnan.
The England cricketer took to Twitter at the weekend after the win over Huddersfield, writing:
Well if Leeds play like that for the rest of the season. We could be promotion contenders. Redfearn in. #MOT— Tim Bresnan (@timbresnan) September 20, 2014
For the greater good, Redfearn's spell as Leeds boss has been a huge success, but his success places a little pressure on Milanic.
It is not entirely a bad thing, as there is always going to be pressure to deliver at a club as huge as Leeds, and he inherits a winning and confident squad, rather than the out-of-form outfit led by Dave Hockaday.
If the fans believe the play-offs and promotion are a possibility, that has to transmit itself to the players, and that positivity will be the greatest welcome gift Redfearn could have laid on for Milanic.
