The likes of Cesc Fabregas, Carlos Vela and Jack Wilshere have all made their bows in the League Cup for Arsenal, and this season should be no different.
A week removed from a Champions League away game, and with a North London derby to face on Sunday, the Gunners are likely to rest key players and hand chances to those on the fringes.
Here is how we anticipate the teams lining up...
Bellerin Hayden Chambers Gibbs
Campbell Rosicky Podolski
Analysis: The contest is likely to provide a chance for goalkeeper David Ospina to make his competitive debut, after a £4 million switch from Nice.
Ospina has been a full part of training sessions and this is the opportunity he has been waiting for.
In defence Hector Bellerin will get another go, and likely have to tackle Southampton debutant Sadio Mane.
Under-21 captain Isaac Hayden is likely to get a call-up, and show that he is capable of progressing to the senior side, partnering Calum Chambers at the back. Kieran Gibbs will likely keep his place due to a lack of options, with Macho Monreal in the treatment room.
Abou Diaby is likely to get his big chance, having been an unused substitute at the weekend, while Francis Coquelin also needs games, a regular in the under-21s.
Also desperate for chances and in need of match sharpness are Joel Campbell, Tomas Rosicky and Lukas Podolski, expect to see each of them feature.
Who will play up front? this is the biggest dilemma, with Arsene Wenger likely to be torn between playing Yaya Sanogo and teenager Chuba Akpom, who has been prolific for the under-21s this season.
Expect to see him feature off the bench, with Sanogo ahead in the pecking order, searching for his first competitive Arsenal goal.
