What did Neil Redfearn and Massimo Cellino discuss for 20 minutes?

Leeds United caretaker-manager Neil Redfearn held a 20-minute long discussion with club president Massimo Cellino on Saturday.

Neil Redfearn may have just signed off as Leeds United caretaker-manager with victory in the West Yorkshire derby.

On Saturday, Leeds gave arguably their best performance of the 2014-15 season when they demolished Huddersfield Town 3-0 at Elland Road in the Championship.

The Whites were in control right from the start and went ahead after 20 minutes when Rodolph Austin found the target.

Mirco Antenucci's close-range shot on the stroke of half time saw Leeds go 2-0 up, and they wrapped up the scoring on 69 minutes through Souleymane Doukara.

Although Gaetano Berardi was sent off for a second bookable offence with 17 minutes of normal time remaining, it did not have any effect on the result.

With reports suggesting that Darko Milanic will arrive in England soon to hold talks with Leeds president Massimo Cellino to become the new full-time manager, Saturday’s game could be Redfearn’s final as the club’s caretaker-manager.

The 49-year-old Englishman has no regrets about his time as the first-team boss and has revealed that he held a 20-minute discussion with Cellino before the West Yorkshire derby.

‘I had a 20-minute chat with Massimo beforehand but it was all about the game’, Sky Sports quotes him as saying. ‘Whatever happens will happen. I have enjoyed myself and done myself no harm. The club is in a better position than it was’.

Redfearn is not going to disclose in public a private discussion, but one has to wonder if the duo did speak about the future.

Cellino is known to have given tactical advice to his coaches during his time as the Cagliari owner, and he could well have done the same with Redfearn on Saturday.

But did Cellino give Redfearn an idea of who the new manager will be? We may soon know.
