A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says he is yet to be rejected by a genuine transfer target since taking over at Old Trafford.

There had been suggestions that a number of key targets opted not to move to United this summer, including more than one Bayern Munich player.

However in quotes published by the Observer the Dutchman has set the record straight in that regard.

“Every player I have contacted wants to play for Manchester United,” van Gaal said.

“In spite of the fact that we are not playing in the Champions League this season, the players are still willing to come.”

That goes against claims earlier this summer that the likes of Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben rejected the chance to swap Bayern Munich for a spell in the Premier League.

In other news, the Telegraph reports that van Gaal is well aware how costly it could be bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a sensational return to his former club next summer. But the report claims van Gaal’s side “does not want to get their fingers burned by stoking” the rumours, suggesting that they will calmly wait to see what happens before throwing their hat into the proverbial ring.

And finally, United defender Rafal wants to remain at the club for the rest of his career.

In quotes published by the Sunday Express, the Brazilian defender said, “I’m glad I’m still here, but sad because a lot of friends have left.

“I want to keep going and stay here for ever, if possible.”
