A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to fight it out for defender Fabian Schar during the January transfer window.

The Daily Star claims the two North London clubs are both interested in signing the Swiss international and could make their moves in January.

The FC Basel centre-back is said to be valued at around £10million, but with a contract that expires in less than 12 months his current club has a big decision to make if he fails to sign a new one.

While either club may be able to sign him for a reduced fee in the winter, the alternative could be offering a pre-contract agreement to snare the seemingly soon-to-be free agent.

In other news, Tottenham player Ryan Fredericks has been speaking about making his debut for loan club Middlesbrough.

The defender played in the 4-0 victory against Brentford and speaking to Boro’s official website after the match he said, “I really enjoyed the game on Saturday; it was nice to play in front of the fans on my debut and even better to get the three points.”
