PHOTOS: Rooney, Blind and Smalling look glum as Manchester United are humbled by Leicester

The home side were worthy winners as Louis van Gaal's men capitulated in the second half.

For Manchester United fans, today was a day to forget. For the neutral, however, Sunday's Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium provided an instant classic - one that will be remembered for years.

Louis van Gaal may have been livid but Nigel Pearson would have been over the moon. Two goals to the good, United were the victims of a questionable refereeing decision... and then their own defensive inadequacy.

Robin van Persie (thanks to a Radamel Falcao assist), Angel Di Maria (with a wondergoal) and Ander Herrera put Man United 3-1 up, with a Leonardo Ulloa goal giving the Foxes some hope in between.

It only seemed as though the hosts had a teeny, tiny ray of hope, however, before reckless defending from Rafael conceded a penalty and Leicester's fightback began. Two became three became four, before Tyler Blackett conceded another spot-kick and was sent off. Five.

An eight-goal thriller was served to the people, then, and the people were certainly thankful. Some of the images captured, meanwhile, were absolutely brilliant. United captain Wayne Rooney, defender Chris Smalling and midfielder Danny Blind looked distraught... Esteban Cambiasso, Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel jubilant.

And the image of the Leicester mascot mocking United fans with pretend tears... priceless. Here are the best pictures from the game!
