Liverpool morning news: Striker’s frustration; Valdes links return as Rodgers comments on current No. 1

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

The fall-out from Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday continues, with striker Fabio Borini speaking about the setback.

In quotes published by the Reds’ official website, the Italian said, “It was frustrating to be 2-0 down but the most frustrating thing is not to get back into the game and then concede another goal, to lose 3-1.

“We were always up for the three points – that’s what we aim for every week – so that was most disappointing.”

Liverpool have now lost back-to-back league games after losing 1-0 to Aston Villa last weekend, and Brendan Rodgers needs to turn their fortunes round quickly after a stuttering Champions League victory in mid-week.

One way he is being tipped to do that is by bringing in Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes to replace Simon Mignolet.

The Daily Star claims Liverpool are monitoring Valdes’s progress and that will not be good news for the Belgian international, of whom Rodgers said, “I think Simon is a bit laid back. They key thing is to make sure you are on the front foot and aggressive.”
