Juventus player ratings v Milan: Tevez decisive, Pogba flourishes late

Juventus 2

Juventus made it a perfect nine points out of nine in Serie A, with a Carlos Tevez strike sealing a 1-0 victory over AC Milan at San Siro.

Gianluigi Buffon 6.5/10 – Superb reflexes to beat away Keisuke Honda’s sharp header from close range on the half-hour mark. Not terribly troubled otherwise.

Martin Caceres 6.5/10 – Forced off in the 35th minute with an injury after having a positive start to the evening.

Leonardo Bonucci 7.5/10 – Very composed on the ball and looks to have rediscovered much of the confidence he lost last season. Provided accurate passing from the back.

Giorgio Chiellini 7/10 – Battled furiously with Keisuke Honda throughout the first half. Clearly on top in the second period and marshaled the Juve defence.

Stephan Lichtsteiner 6.5/10 – Gave Mattia De Sciglio fits at times with his trademark runs down the right flank. Couldn’t pick out the Bianconeri forwards with any crosses, but a good shift from the Swiss wing-back.

Roberto Pereyra 7/10 – Quite impressive deputising for Arturo Vidal. Covered an exceptional amount of ground and added verve going forward with four dribbles on the day.

Claudio Marchisio 7/10 – The main man in midfield filling in for Andrea Pirlo. Completed 87% of his passes and took 124 touches. Nearly broke the deadlock when his snapshot smashed off the post.

Paul Pogba 7/10 – Extremely quiet for the first hour, but burst into life in the final 30 minutes. Provided an inch-perfect assist for Tevez and threatened to increase the lead several times himself.

Kwadwo Asamoah 6.5/10 – Kept Abate pinned back for long stretches and was always an outlet down the left. A typical shift from the Ghanaian in a Bianconeri jersey - solid and tenacious.

Fernando Llorente 6.5/10 – Was unfortunate not to score after doing ever so well to bring the ball down in the box and burst past Muntari – only to be denied by Christian Abbiati.

Carlos Tevez 7/10 – Fought for every ball and eventually got his reward with a well-taken finish for the winner. Has now scored four goals across all competitions to start the season.

Angelo Ogbonna 6.5/10 – Replaced Caceres after the Uruguayan was forced off with an injury. Slotted in nicely and was buoyed by the confidence of good performances against Chievo and Udinese to kick off the campaign.

Arturo Vidal n/a – Had a chance to double the lead but was stopped by a crucial block.

Romulo n/a – Brought on to shore up the midfield. Made sure Milan didn’t get any let opportunities for an equaliser.
