A late Frank Lampard goal gave Manchester City a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Andre Schurrle had given Jose Mourinho's side the lead in the 71st minute, and it looked as though the visitors would hold on to maintain their 100 per cent start to the domestic campaign.
However, Lampard had other ideas, scoring his first goal for his loan club just seven minutes after coming off the bench.
The former England international refused to celebrate his goal, but it could ultimately prove crucial in the race for the Premier League title.
City had 58 per cent of the ball but failed to make that added possession count, and on-target scoring attempts were at a premium for both sides, with the hosts having just four and Chelsea managing just two.
That said, both managers are likely to be relatively happy with a point and can now look forward to a campaign that could well see the two sides battling it out at the top of the table all the way until May.
