Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Ozil performance v Villa

Ozil Arsenal 5

Mesut Ozil put in a man-of-the-match display in the 3-0 win against Aston Villa yesterday.

Arsenal fans are exultant this morning after watching their side dispatch of high-flyers Aston Villa with consummate ease at Villa Park yesterday afternoon.

But it was not just the result that had them jumping for joy, but also the performance of the club record signing Mesut Ozil.

Ozil ended last season poorly but after an impressive, and triumphant, World Cup in Brazil hope was high that he would come back the player they paid £42.4 million for.

The hope initially proved false.

He has struggled immensely in the last few weeks, seemingly unhappy at having to play a wide position because of the form of Jack Wilshere.

But with Wilshere sidelined Ozil returned to his favoured central position - and didn't he shine.

He scored the opening goal of the game went slotted through by £16 million newbie Danny Welbeck. His cool finish was soon followed by a bustling assist. He played a low cross into the area, returning the favour to Welbeck who duly added Arsenal's second - his first for the club.

But it was not just these two excellent moments of magic from Ozil that caught the eye. Is overall game play was superb. Delightful one touch passes and back heels. He ran beyond his man perhaps more than at any point in his Arsenal career so far and was often in the right spaces and gaps to exploit a struggling Villa team.

Understandably Arsenal fans were very pleased with the performance and made no secret of the fact on Twitter.

Here are some of the best Tweets from after the game...
