Snake will have a furry companion in Metal Gear Solid 5

Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain DD the Wolf 3

Konami and Kojima's latest Metal Gear game introduces one of it's newest characters - a wolf.

The Tokyo Game Show 2014 is offering up quite a few new trailers and details for some much-anticipated games. This time we're looking at Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and it's newest addition to the cast, a wolf called 'DD'.

DD, short for Diamond Dog, will be able to help Snake out during specific missions in the game. The wolf companion will be able to be trained by Ocelot and will eventually end up wearing an eyepatch, just like Snake.

Watch the trailer below to see DD as a cute puppy, and follow him through his time in becoming Snake's faithful companion. Also, that wolf must be on some kind of meds to grow up that quickly, but hey, videogames, right?

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is due for a 2015 release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
