PHOTOS: Super West Ham crush poor Liverpool 3-1

Upton Park

Goals from Winston Reid, Diafra Sakho and Morgan Amalfitano proved enough for West Ham victory despite a goal from Liverpool's Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool have lost their second Premier League game in a row as West Ham dispatched of the Premier League title hopefuls 3-1 at Upton Park.

Sam Allardyce's team put in a superb performance at the Old Boleyn to get the better of Liverpool and come away with a win that was fully deserved.

Goals from Winston Reid, Diafra Sakho and Morgan Amalfitano did the trick for The Hammers, despite a goal from Raheem Sterling approaching half-time.

Here are the pictures that tell the story of an excellent West Ham win...

Bums had barely hit seats in the ground when James Tomkins headed a ball back across the box for Winston Reid to score the opening goal of the game - once again Liverpool undone by a set-piece.

Next up it was summer signing Diafra Sakho bagging the second goal of the game. The Senegalese striker produced a delightful chip over the stranded Simon Mignolet. The debate wages on, cross or shot? But benefit of the doubt for the striker.

Brendan Rodgers acted fast to try and improve things. He switched to a back three, hauling Javier Manquillo out of the action for Mamadou Sakho after 21 minutes.

Mario Balotelli and Adrian almost came to blows. The Italian striker caught the West Ham keeper late, riling the Spaniard, before the two squared up. A booking for both and back into the action.

Raheem Sterling looked to have moved Liverpool into position for a second half onslaught. He powered home an exceptional half volley after good work from Balotelli.

Adam Lallana entered the field of play at half-time, and his arrival improved the standard of Liverpool's play - but they could not find the crucial goal.

West Ham brought Amalfitano into the action for a home debut in the second-half and he coolly dispatched the ball beyond Simon Mignolet to make it 3-1 after being unleashed by ex-Red Stewart Downing. Another bad day at the office for Liverpool against claret and blue.
