Lukas Podolski has posted a picture with Arsenal great Robert Pires ahead of the French international's return to football with FC Goa in India.
Pires has not played professional football for three years now, but was made one of the marquee signings in the Indian Super League over the summer.
In India, the Frenchman will compete against his former Arsenal teammates Fredrik Ljungberg and Nicolas Anelka, who joined Mumbai City.
It is a move which comes as quite a surprise to many, but Podolski has wished the graceful Frenchman good luck.
He posted the picture above on Instagram, with the caption: “My favourite Frenchman Pires and I – I enjoyed every moment at Arsenal with you, you will be missed pal!!! Go there and show how it’s done!"
Pires became an Arsenal legend during his six years with the North London club. His skill and creativity caught the eye during his time there, and he went on to make 189 appearances, scoring 62 goals for the Gunners, before completing a move to Villarreal.
