Leeds United caretaker-manager Neil Redfearn has made a massive statement about the club’s chances of success this season.
Following the Whites’ comfortable 3-0 victory over West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at Elland Road on Saturday, the 49-year-old claimed that they can finish in the Championship playoff positions.
‘This squad can threaten the top six’, Sky Sports quotes him as saying. I've told the players the sky is the limit’.
For a club that was struggling for points less than a month, those are indeed bold comments. But is it really too far-fetched to believe that Leeds can finish in the top six of the Championship this season?
At the moment, the former Premier League outfit are 11th in the league table with 13 points from eight matches, just two points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.
Leeds are one of the most in-form sides at the moment, having picked up 10 points from their last four matches. The new signings are settling in well, and confidence is back among the players.
Of course, the Championship season is long and there will many twists and turns – but it seems that ambition is back among the Leeds players and that can only be good.
