Liverpool morning news: Mignolet working on this area, Henderson eyeing title

Mignolet

A round up of news stories this morning about Liverpool.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Simon Mignolet is working on his relationship with the defence.

Mignolet has been the club’s number one ever since he arrived from Sunderland and replaced Pepe Reina.

“He just continues to work on that relationship with the back four and deal with that - So we have talked about getting organised quickly in the game, and doing your job, making sure your marker doesn’t get in front of you. At times, we didn’t defend it well enough,” said the boss.

Liverpool star Jordan Henderson has proved that the club will prove they are Premier League title contenders.

The Reds have already lost key games this season at the hands of Manchester City and Aston Villa.

“We believe we could win the Premier League and got so close. That disappointment and hurt we went through will drive us on to hopefully go one better,” he told the Daily Post.

West Ham United midfielder Alex Song says Steven Gerrard is a more important player for Liverpool than Luis Suarez.

The pair could square up as Liverpool travel to the Hammers in the Premier League this weekend.

“I think Gerrard is the best player I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt for me. He is more important to Liverpool than Suarez,” he told reporters.
