Former Liverpool man Julian Dicks ‘would pay to watch’ Mario Balotelli – but he needs service from Philippe Coutinho

Former Liverpool defender Julian Dicks is a fan of Mario Balotelli.

Former Liverpool defender Julian Dicks has been signing the praises of the club’s £16 million summer signing Mario Balotelli.

The Italy international striker returned to the Premier League after just one-and-a-half-years away. Balotelli moved to AC Milan from Manchester City in January 2013 and joined Liverpool last month.

The 24-year-old’s time at City was replete with controversial incidents both on the pitch and off it, but so far at Liverpool he has not hit the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Dicks is a big fan of the 2010 Champions League winner and told ‘You want him (Balotelli) firing on all cylinders every game, you don’t want him getting mixed up with the other team and putting him off his game, because to be honest, I would pay to watch him’.

However, Dicks believes that for Liverpool to get the best of Balotelli, manager Brendan Rodgers needs to make sure that he gets the best service.

And who should provide that service other than Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho?

‘But he’s not one of those players that leads the line, if he’s not getting the service he seems to get the hump a little, but hopefully at Liverpool he will get the service from people like Philippe Coutinho’, said Dicks.

Balotelli has been in good form so far this season, but Coutinho has not made the best of starts to the 2014-15 campaign. However, the Brazil international is a superb player, and it is only a matter of time before he gets back his rhythm.
