Match to be played on Saturday 20th September 2014 at 15:00. Venue: Turf Moor, Burnley.
Burnley could step out of the Premier League’s bottom three this weekend with a positive result against Sunderland.
Sean Dyche’s side have started an unbeaten run and will be looking to cash in on the point they secured against Crystal Palace away from Turfmoor last weekend.
The boss could make some changes to his team and we’ve had a go at naming the Burnley side for the match against the Black Cats.
GK – Tom Heaton
Heaton was a consistent performer for Burnley during their promotion season. He keeps his place.
RB – Kieran Trippier
Trippier is a good player to have camped on the right hand side of defence. He’s got the skills to stay solid at the back but also to make the difference going forward.
CB – Michael Duff
Duff provides the experience in the defence. It’s important he gives himself time to back off against quicker players.
CB – Jason Shackell
Shackell has performed well over the first few weeks of the season. He doesn’t look fazed by the pace in Premier League football.
LB – Ben Mee
The 24-year-old is a very quick player and someone who will be crucial in terms of providing the width from the left if George Boyd drifts wide.
RM – Scott Arfield
Arfield has a big role to play on the right side of midfield. Burnley need to see creative play from him with the middle of the pitch likely to become congested.
CM – Dean Marney
Marney’s job will be to keep everyone positive if the game doesn’t start well for Burnley. His teammates will look to him if they’re under early pressure.
CM – David Jones
Jones is a very sensible and logical player in the middle of the team. It’s important he doesn’t try to do anything over elaborate and just plays sensible football.
LM – Marvin Sordell
Sordell could come into the side for the injured Danny Ings and start out wide. His pace will be crucial but he won’t always stay in a wide position.
ST – George Boyd
Boyd will more than likely rotate with Sordell should the latter start. Boyd is a solid option up front but slightly inexperienced in a wide role.
ST – Lukas Jutkiewicz
The 25-year-old should see this as an opportunity to put down a claim to be considered the club’s primary striker.
