Manchester City morning news: Silva and Fernandinho eyeing win against rivals

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva has said the club can’t afford to lose for a second time in a row this weekend.

The Premier League champions host Chelsea in the pick of this weekend’s fixtures.

“They are first in the [Premier] league and have more points than us. We can't lose on Sunday and let that gap get any bigger. So it is a very important game,” said the Spaniard.

Fernandinho has joined Silva in expecting to win the game, demanding improvements from mid-week.

City lost 1-0 away at Bayern Munich thanks to a late goal from Jerome Boateng.

“When you lose a game like this right at the end, after the game you feel a little bit sad. But you have to recover as soon as you can and now we have a great game against a big team like Chelsea. The best way to recover is to win,” he said.

The Daily Star reports that Manchester City fans were furious with Yaya Toure after that defeat in Germany.

The City star hugged Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola after the defeat, which has left several fans unhappy.

“What's with Yaya Toure laughing and joking with Pep at the end there?? Should have pulled ya finger out tonight instead! Certainly not funny,” the paper quotes one supporter.
