Long-term Arsenal target admits he could head to Premier League next summer

Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton have all been linked with Klaas Jan Huntelaar in the past - now they might be able to get hold of him.

Last night Chelsea became the latest victims of 'The Hunter' as Schalke 04 striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored a vital equaliser for the Bundesliga club at Stamford Bridge.

The Dutch international striker has banged in the goals throughout his career with spells at PSV Eindhoven, Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan and he is now banging them in for Schalke.

But he has not yet graced the Premier League. He has been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool in the past - while Arsenal have always remained an interested party. In fact Arsenal were linked with his signature on Transfer Deadline Day but so far the 31-year-old has resisted overtures from the UK.

Two seasons ago the likes of Arsenal and Spurs were strongly linked with his signature

as his contract was expiring at the end of the 2012-13 campaign. But Huntelaar signed a two-year extension, which comes to an end next summer.

And speaking after the game last night, the scourge of Chelsea has admitted that he might finally make the move to England.

Huntelaar stated:

"I don't know where the speculation has come from. I was in Schalke and I heard it. The rumours on August 31 [transfer deadline day] somebody used my name and I don't know what's happening. It's [the Premier League] a nice league and you never know what's happening. My mind is now on Schalke. I have a contract until the end of the season, maybe we're going to talk someday."

So perhaps Huntelaar could be an excellent free agent in 12 months time.
