Martin Keown says that Diego Costa is a combination of Dennis Bergkamp and Didier Drogba.
Costa has scored seven goals in his first four Premier League matches and has clearly impressed Keown, who lavished praise upon him.
The former Arsenal defender believes that he has technical qualities similar to his former Arsenal team-mate Dennis Bergkamp and the physical prowess of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
"He has a mixture of Dennis Bergkamp’s touch and Didier Drogba’s strength and presence. He can have a tear up or score the perfect goal and that is unusual," he wrote in the Daily Mail.
It is high praise indeed, given the reputations that Bergkamp and Drogba have. The pair are two of the greatest strikers to ever grace the Premier League, and if Costa is able to emulate the feats of either of them, let alone both, then he will have had a phenomenal career.
That said, the Brazilian-born striker could hardly have looked any better during his initial spell in England. Whilst a number of high-profile attackers have struggled to fit in at Stamford Bridge, Costa has wasted no time at all settling in in his new surroundings and already looks a sure-fire bet to win the Premier League top scorer's crown.
His total of seven goals is a remarkable return for a man who is still adapting to life in a new country. Costa is expected to be Chelsea's main man as they go for the title this season, and the initial signs are that he will thrive with the responsibility.
The Blues have been by far and away the most impressive side in England so far this campaign and will be hoping to keep their fine form up as the season progresses.
There was a thought that Jose Mourinho's side only fell short last campaign because of their lack of a clinical finisher, but now they have that there appears to be no stopping the London side.
Chelsea have won all four of their opening Premier League games and travel to Manchester City this weekend where they will be looking to make a major statement of intent for the season by beating the current champions.
