Adam Lallana vows to keep improving at Liverpool

The summer signing from Southampton has only just started to bed into the Liverpool side after an injury in pre-season.

Liverpool summer signing Adam Lallana is certain he will get better with fitness and match time.

Lallana made his Liverpool debut in the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, and also played a large part of the Champions League win over Ludogorets in midweek.

So far the impact he has made has been minimal, but that is to expected given that he couldn't play a single pre-season game because of a knee injury he picked up on the pre-season tour of the United States.

In the two matches he has featured so far, he has been playing in a wider role, but has looked to cut inside whenever possible and support the main striker.

He told the official Liverpool website: "I'm always trying to get better. I'm training day in, day out with world-class players, so it's great for me to continue my learning process, keep working hard and trying to get even better.

"Fitness-wise I feel great, but I still feel I'm getting there sharpness-wise. It feels great to be out there again because I'd not played a game for two or three months. It's where I want to be - I want to be back playing, not sat on the treatment table.

"It's a great feeling and I'm sure with the amount of games we've got coming up, the more minutes I get on the pitch, the better I'll feel and the better the performances I'll be putting in.

"It's going really well for me. It was difficult to start off with, picking up the injury meant I was out for six weeks and missed pre-season. That was disappointing because you always want to have an impact straight away and I was brought to the club to play football, but ultimately I couldn't do that to start off with."

The substitutions show that Lallana is still a way from match fitness - though he was amongst the most substituted players in the Premier League during the last campaign at Southampton. He'll want to improve his passing accuracy as well. However, it is encouraging that given he is short of fitness, he hasn't been dispossessed much which shows he is good in tight areas.

As he gets better, he, along with his teammates, will want him to get involved in the play in the final third a lot more and make more of an impression in the danger zones.
