Here are our predictions for the latest round of Championship fixtures.
Birmingham City v Fulham
This is a match between two sides at the wrong end of the table. Birmingham will be the favourites because they have home advantage and Fulham are rooted to the bottom with one point and the worst defensive record.
Blackburn Rovers v Watford
This is a difficult game to call. Watford have been one of the early season pace setters in the Championship but Blackburn can pull level on points with a win. Watford’s attack could be the difference.
Blackpool v Norwich City
Blackpool have been playing some gutsy football as they try and get out of the bottom three in the division. Only Fulham have fewer points this season. Norwich should be confident they can win and potentially go top.
Bolton Wanderers v Derby County
Bolton can take heart from the way they played in the League Cup against Chelsea. However, Derby have been playing well at both ends and will be the favourites to take a close win.
Bournemouth v Wigan Athletic
Bournemouth is not an easy ground to go to for any team. This is a mid-table battle between two teams evenly matched in terms of defence and attack. This is going to be the first draw in this round of predictions.
Brentford v Leeds United
Leeds go into this game on the back of a fine run of form but with a new manager in charge. Darko Milanic is unlikely to have changed too much and Leeds could add another away win to their collection.
Cardiff City v Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday are in a great position after a good start to the season. The drubbing handed to them by Manchester City in the League Cup should leave them right up for this game.
Charlton Athletic v Middlesbrough
Boro played well away at Liverpool in mid-week and they will fight for something in this game. It’s going to be a tight match between two sides likely to contest the play-off places throughout the season.
Huddersfield Town v Millwall
Huddersfield have had all week to think about what went wrong against Leeds and how they’re going to put it right. Only Fulham have a worse defence than the home side this season which gives the visitors a slight edge.
Ipswich Town v Rotherham United
Rotherham have struggled at both ends this season and they travel to a side which has proven to be difficult to break down this season. Ipswich will back their attack to prevail in this game all day long.
Nottingham Forest v Brighton
Forest will fancy their chances of beating any side at home, especially when they’re top of the league. Forest are one of two unbeaten sides in the Championship this season with an attack which has scored 17 goals.
Reading v Wolves
Wolves are flying while Reading are trying to break into the play-off places; it should be a great game. Wolves haven’t scored many goals but their defence has been phenomenal on the road this season. If they can keep Reading quiet, they can take something.
